Banamex (El Banco Nacional de México) is second largest bank in Mexico and is a subsidiary of Citigroup since 2001. It was formed through a merger in 1884 and today has ATM coverage in Mexico in over 500 cities in addition to 1700 branches around the country.  It caters to individuals, small business, SMEs, corporations and government institutions. It provides traditional banking services (credit cards, loans) as well as investment and savings products including investment funds and certificates of deposits (CEDES).  Some deposit products may receive IPAB (www.ipab.org.mx) deposit projection guarantee up to a certain limit per person per bank.
